Crime Prevention Unit
There is an old saying; "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
The Middlesex Deputy Sheriffs' Association Crime Prevention Unit proves the
wisdom of this saying every day! By educating the residents of Middlesex about
some of the ways to avoid becoming a victim of crime, the Sheriffs' Crime
Prevention Unit provides a cost-effective way to reduce the frequency of crimes.
The sponsorship of Prevention programs also provides an excellent means of
building a positive working relationship between the law enforcement community
and the residents of Middlesex County. More importantly, the work of the Crime
Prevention Unit directly improves the quality of life for every citizen of
Middlesex, and is directly responsible for lowering the incidence of certain
Part One Crimes. Thanks to the efforts of the Crime Prevention Unit, the
residents of Middlesex County can once again call their neighborhoods "home" and
be proud of where they live! At scheduled events throughout the year, the Crime
Prevention Unit conducts safety and crime prevention presentations throughout
County. These programs empower the residents of Middlesex with the knowledge that
allows them to avoid the likelihood of becoming a victim of crime. These programs
also provide the residents with the confidence needed to get involved in their
community. With the cooperative effort of the residents, the good citizens of
Middlesex can once again regain control of their neighborhoods and evict the punks,
drug dealers, and street thugs that have degraded our quality of life. In doing so,
a strong relationship develops within the community and a sense of pride begins to
grow. In addition, the healthy partnership that develops between the residents of
the County and the law enforcement community creates an unwelcome environment for
any would be criminal. The crime fighting ability of law enforcement officers is
limited. The incidence of violent crime, coupled with budget restraints and limited
manpower, has stressed police departments to their limit. Today, the grim fact remains
that the courts are far to willing to protect the rights of the criminal at the expense
of the rights owed to the victim. It is the expertise, motivation, and assistance of
the Crime Prevention Unit that allows the residents of Middlesex to win the battle
against crime! It doesn't matter whether you're rich or poor, elderly, disabled, a
teenager, or child; everyone can benefit from participating in the programs offered
by the Sheriffs' Crime Prevention Unit.
